Photosgraphe, the title of this series, is a compound of photography’s etymological roots: the greek works (photos) “light”, and (graph) “representation by means of lines” or “drawing”. By distilling the course of movement over time into a single image, in addition to its potential to mirror reality, it also has an ability to suspend it. The works in this series utilize this aspect of photography to depict the unseen such as dreams, spirit and metaphor. Most of the images exist as stop animation sequences as well as still images.
